Matt Arnold is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He began working at MCEDC in 2000 and was promoted to President/CEO in August 2001.  Prior to Marshall County, he served as Economic Development Coordinator for Bibb County, Alabama.  He is a graduate of the University of Montevallo and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He has served on the board of directors of the Southern Economic Development Council, the Economic Development Association of Alabama, and the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama. He currently serves as Secretary of the Tenn-Tom Waterway Development Council.  His community involvement includes past-president and Paul Harris Fellow of the Guntersville Rotary Club, United Way, the Boy Scouts of America, and the First United Methodist Church of Guntersville. He is a 2002 graduate of the Marshall County Leadership Challenge and a member of Leadership Alabama (Class XVII). He is a past member of the University of Montevallo National Alumni Association board of directors and in 2017 was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley to serve on the University of Montevallo Board of Trustees.   He is the 2013 Recipient of the President's Award from the North Alabama Industrial Development Association.




A native of Marshall County Alabama, Larry holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce and Business Administration from The University of Alabama and a Masters in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.  Larry's career includes plant supervision, operations management, and human resources management in small to medium-size manufacturing organizations in various locations in North Alabama. His industry experience includes manufactured housing, textiles fiber production, food processing, electronic systems development and production, metal forming and fabrication, and communications cable production.

After a 25 year career in industry, Larry joined the Marshall County Economic Development Council in July 2021 and currently serves as Existing Industry Coordinator with primary responsibility for supporting existing business and industry within the county. Larry also serves as Executive Director of the Marshall County Manufacturers Association, a membership organization comprised of over forty member companies.

Larry is married with two sons and one grandchild and lives in Arab, Alabama.




Laura Braswell is originally from Plano, Texas, and moved to the Marshall County area in 2013. A relocation to Alabama for their family was due to a change in her husband’s career. Laura, her husband, Jason, and their two children, Brooke and Jax fell in love with the natural beauty of Lake Guntersville. She has enjoyed being involved in the community and has served on the Mountain Valley Arts Council board, volunteering with Shepherd’s Cove Foundation, and is a member of the Marshall Women’s Guild with the Foundation for Marshall Medical Centers. Laura participated in the Marshall County Leadership Challenge which ultimately sparked her passion to join the MCEDC and spearhead the Workforce Development initiative.

Prior to joining the Marshall County Economic Development Council, Laura attended Collin College with a focus on Applied Sciences and Psychology. She had an extensive career within the dental field that included public relations, communications, human resources, and marketing. Laura enjoys creating meaningful relationships and wants to bring out the best in those she works with.
